A barrister, or what is colloquially known as a lawyer, is, according to Lord Dudley Black's Legal Dictionary,"a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person who is practicing law."
Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain the stability of political and social authority, and deliver justice. Working as a barrister involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain (i.e., hire) barristers to perform legal services.
Liscensing[]
The role of barristers throughout the Eastern Kingdoms has varied much with time and location, with different expectations and requirements placed upon willing applicants depending upon their place of residence. Most barristers attend acadamies of law or study under other barristers with vast libraries of legal text.
Although becoming a barrister is relatively easy for most proceedings, the notable exception to the relative laxity of the profession is the requirement of Stormwind House of Magistrates that all barristers who wish to present their case before the Stormwind High Court be certified and liscensed.
